After the tremendous success of the Big Typhoon heatsink (CL-P0114), Thermaltake Technology is proud to introduce another masterpiece – the Mini Typhoon (CL-P0268). The Mini Typhoon touts heat dissipation capacity comparable to the Big Typhoon while allowing it to be used by the users with smaller chassis. The all-copper Mini Typhoon is supported by 6 independent copper heatpipes and a super quiet, 18 decibels RX fan.
Inheriting the silent strands of the Big Typhoon’s DNA, the Mini Typhoon also thrives to stay silent. To begin with, the Mini Typhoon utilizes a special RX fan which hangs frameless and upside-down on top of the heatsink. The RX fan design increases air flow due to wider intake area, and reduces turbulence due to the standard frames. On the heatsink, the fins are now waved in order to guide the airflow and reduce the wind noise.
Due to the excellent thermal transfer nature of copper, the Mini Typhoon is built of 100% pure copper from the fins to the heatpipes to the base. Through the high-temperature soldering process, the bonding of the copper is seamless, which enables the heat to be transferred even better. In order to maintain the high overall heat dissipation, the Mini Typhoon utilizes 6 independent equal-length heatpipes and does not flatten on the bottom base. The un-deformed, independent, equal-length heatpipes keep the efficiency of the Mini Typhoon maximized at all times.
The all-copper CPU heatsinks on the market today are usually ranging from 750g to 1000g; the Mini Typhoon weighs only little more than 600g. The extremely thin 0.2mm thick fins and the perfect fin-to-airflow ratio allows the Mini Typhoon to be so light yet so cool.
The Mini Typhoon thrives for simplicity when it comes to installation. For the Intel Socket LGA775 installation, Thermaltake has utilized the Intel ITW Push Pin design for the Mini Typhoon. For the AMD K8 (Socket 939/940/754), the Mini Typhoon uses the Tt clip-on mechanism. Both designs do not require removing or using the backplate, and the users can quickly install without any tools.
The Mini Typhoon’s convenient design and high performance enables the heatsink to be used on all the existing Socket LGA775 CPUs from Intel Pentium D, Pentium 4, Celeron D, and all K8 CPUs from AMD Athlon 64 X2, Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64, to Semprons.
