Speeze Vulture Spin 3

Company: Speeze
Product: Heatsink
Reviewer: Goblin

Recently we reviewed Speezes’s Coppersnake III. A fine heatsink designed for the Pentium crowd. Today we are going to review Speeze’s VultureSpin III, the Amd equivalent. As always, first impressions count for a lot, so how the hsf looks right out of the box is important. The good news is that the VultureSpin III looks pretty impressive. Open the box and you get a Speeze badge, instructions and the heatsink itself. I really like the looks of Speeze’s inverted Spider-fan as it gives the whole hsf a distinct look when mounted inside your case.

Now, I have to say that I’m not a big fan of pre-applied thermal compound on an hsf, preferring instead to apply my own. This does not mean this is a bad thing, especially for you first timers out there but if you decide to use your own, please make sure you clean your base thoroughly. Personally, i would have preferred to have a small tube of thermal paste included with the product but if this is the worst thing i have to worry about l’m pretty happy.

On to the testing. Installation is pretty standard for an AMD hsf. Actually, this hsf went on easier than a number of similar products we have installed so kudos to Speeze for making the installation so user friendly. As for the specs on this particular model, here are all the details directly from Speeze’s website:
