Thermaltake UFO Twin Blade Fan

Company: Thermaltake.com
Product: Fan
Reviewer: Goblin

Thermaltake is at it again. Long known around the office as the makers of all things “spinny”, you’d think that they’d run out of innovative ideas at some point. The good news is that today is not that day. We have sitting in front of us the new UFO twin blade fan to review and if looks equal performance, then we have a winner.

Ok, first things first. Looks do NOT equal performance. That’s why we test these things! But this is definitely a nice looking fan. With its 12 blades and 6 leds, this fan is no slouch in the looks department. The fan is made of a plastic that is UV reactive (for all of you black light modders out there) and it has a nice chrome-like grill. The grill is actually made out of plastic but it is coated in a very nice chrome finish that actually looks pretty authentic. It also comes in 3 different colours: UV Green, UV Blue and Silver. Of course all this you can see without ever opening the case. So, what does this fan ship with?

When you open up the case, you get the following:

• The Thermaltake 92mm UFO fan (That’s right, 92mm)
• A 92 mm to 80 mm fan adapter (more on that in a minute)
• A PCI fan controller (appears to be standard with most Thermaltake fans these days)
• A temperature probe
• A bunch of screws
• Instructions (A big thing for us)

This is a cpu cooling fan, made to go on top of the heatsink of your choice. I suppose you could use it as a standard case fan but that would kind of defeat the purpose of the best part of this fan...the adapter. First off, the fan may be made of plastic and the grill may be made of plastic with a chrome finish but the adapter is made out of aluminium. So, there is no chance of cracking when you try to screw the fan in.
