Next came the testing phase. We used this headset with as many different products as we could find and if performed impressively well. Beginning with the computer, we tested the Siberia with MP3 playback, gaming, movies and online chatting. The Siberia performed consistently and with excellent results. The microphone picked up our voices (both male and female) clearly and without a lot of fumbling around to get “just the right spot”. Then we moved on to portable MP3 players and home stereos. Once again, the sound quality was excellent.
Icemat’s Siberia is made to be durable and sturdy but not heavy. Whether for online gaming or listening to music, headphones tend to stay on your head for a fair amount of time. Personally, 2-3 hours at a time tends to be the minimum, which means that awkward fitting or heavy headphones make for an uncomfortable long-term listening experience. The Siberia is surprisingly light and comfortable. After an hour or so, I actually forgot I had them on. If that’s not a sign of quality, I don’t know what is.
So, if you are in the market for a solidly built set of headphones, with Icemat’s attention to detail, you can’t go wrong with the Siberia. We found them to be extremely comfortable and they sound great.
Pros:
• They look great
• Well designed and solidly constructed
• Gold plated connectors
• Excellent sound quality on a number of devices
• You choose whether to use the microphone or not
Cons:
• Cable running from the headset is a bit short for computer use
