Today, we’re going to take a look at Thermaltake’s Fire-Ball fan. In a nutshell, the Fire-Ball is an 80mm Red, Blue and Green colored case fan. Now here’s the kicker. Attached to this fan is an EL grill that when turned on gives the effect of fire spinning around the fan in a counterclockwise fashion.
Inside the kit you get the fan, a nicely detailed instruction sheet, a power inverter (to turn the grill on/off), extra long mounting screws with nuts, and a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter. If you want, you can take the grill off and use the Fire-Ball as a straight up tri-colored led fan. This fan moves a lot of air and the leds are nice and bright inside the case.
Where this fan shines though, is once you turn the grill on. In a dark room this fan is amazing. In fact it’s kind of hypnotic. When the fan is running your eyes seem compelled to turn towards the fan. That’s what the inverter is for. Turn the grill on when you want a little extra flash in your case, turn the grill off when you need to keep your attention on the task at hand. The inverter also has a sticky back, so that you can mount it wherever it is most convenient for you.
