That’s it. When your computer is on, the ECS will have a green LED. The green light means that the ECS is acting in effect as an extension, so you run off of the standard 12v rail. This same LED turns red when your computer is turned off and it is powering your fan(s) off of the 5v rail. Now, one thing you have to realize is that since your fan(s) are being powered off of the 5v rail (when your computer is off), the rpms will be lower and as such your fan(s) will be quieter but you won’t be moving as much air.

If you overclock the ECS might be just the thing for you. Not only does it look impressive nestled inside your case but anything that can help get the heat out of your case faster is worth its weight in gold. This little bit of insurance might be just what the doctor ordered.

Pros:
• Clear, well written instructions
• Easy assembly
• Looks good inside the case

Cons:
• Only supports 3 pin fans
