With the debut of the Samsung G800, Samsung proved itself as a market innovator, introducing ‘first of its kind’ technology.
The Samsung G800 is the answer for customers’ needs to have the perfect digital camera and the perfect multimedia mobile combined into one single device. For example, optical zoom is very common in most digital cameras, but the Samsung G800 is the first and only 5 megapixel camera phone to have this capability. Features such as face detection, and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), which are very up-to-date features even in today’s digital cameras, are also equipped in the new G800.
The Samsung G800 helps its owners to capture fragments of their lives vividly and to express themselves beyond words. With the Samsung G800, users can store their lives in perfect detail at every moment. It is the smartest match for digital photo fans who aspire to own the best possible digital camera features on their mobile phone. Boasting 3x optical zoom and Xenon flash to enable close-ups and exceptional photo detail, the G800 also comes with other most up-to-date digital camera features such as panorama shots, multi shots and macro shots.
Not only just taking pictures, the G800 also provides a very easy tool for sharing images and videos. Plus, the Samsung G800 offers professional video editing functions so that people can easily cut, paste, and edit their own films. A mobile blogging feature helps users to upload their favorite User Created Contents (UCC) site very easily. Supporting High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA), the photos or videos can be sent to others very quickly.
The G800 has a new camera Graphical User Interface (GUI) which is intuitive and simple to use so that the user experiences the same environment as a digital camera when using the camera function on the phone. An On Screen Display (OSD) shows various camera indicators in a horizontal preview mode.
A sleek camera phone, the G800 looks like a streamlined digital camera on one side and a fashionable mobile phone on the other side. Elegantly equipped with multimedia features, the G800 still has a sophisticated design. It is designed for the two handed grip when taking pictures. The large 2.4” QVGA LCD with a wide display allows users to view the screen like a digital camera. The 3x optical zoom is an inner zoom, where the lens does not extend outside the body of the phone, ensuring a slimmer design.
Geesung Choi, President of Samsung’s Telecommunication Network said: “As multi-megapixel camera phone becomes more and more popular, the needs of actual digital camera-like features grow together. Samsung’s G800 will satisfy the unmet needs in the camera category with a true digital camera-like design and functionality. The G800 will enable users to capture and share precious moments in their daily lives through the enhanced camera functions in a fast 3G network.”
The Samsung G800 will be supported by a major advertising campaign across Europe and will be available in European countries from November.

Samsung to Showcase Advanced Display Technology at FPD International 2007

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world’s largest provider of thin-film-transistor, liquid crystal displays (TFT-LCD), will unveil a diverse array of leading-edge LCD panels for monitors, TVs and digital information displays at FPD International 2007, in Yokohama, Japan, October 24-26.
At what is one of the world’s largest trade shows dedicated to flat panel displays, Samsung will introduce a 40-inch (101.6cm) diagonal Full HD LCD TV panel only 10.0 millimeters thick. This new display, expected to usher in the next wave of large-screen TVs, has the same profile as 10-20 inch LCDs designed for desktop monitors. Its bezel has been reduced from a conventional 30mm to 14.6mm. The panel, using an LED backlight, reproduces 92 percent of the NTSC standard for color saturation and features low power consumption of 90 watts or less.
For notebook PCs, Samsung will unveil premium LCD panels with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Available in 16-inch (40.6cm) and 18.4-inch (46.7cm) screen sizes, these new panels allow notebook users to optimally view high definition movies, digital TV and next-generation gaming, all of which were designed for a 16:9 aspect ratio. In addition, Samsung will show its new 15.4” (39.1cm) LCD with an active, white-LED backlight.
At FPD International, Samsung also will exhibit its new 22-inch desktop monitor LCD with a next-generation DisplayPort interface approved by the Video Electronics Standards Association that enhances the use of high-quality graphics (8 bits or higher).
In the digital information display (DID) area, Samsung will spotlight a 46-inch model with a brightness level of 1,500nits, triple that delivered by LCD panels designed for TV viewing. The higher brightness level makes Samsung DIDs easier to see in public places, where sunlight and fog interfere with visibility. The featured 46-inch model has a bezel no more than 10 millimeters thick, to facilitate the formation of video walls comprised of multiple panels side by side.
In the mobile display section of its FPD exhibit, Samsung is featuring a seven-inch display with an embedded touch screen on its upper glass layer. It also will show a 2.1-inch LCD with sensor-based automatic brightness control that adjusts the brightness of the backlight to match ambient lighting, while lowering power consumption by around 25 percent.
In addition, Samsung will spotlight next-generation concepts such as a 14.3-inch plastic display, 8.1-inch e-paper, and a 14.1-inch active-matrix OLED.
